Valentine’s Day: Bring a little something different to the table

Valentine’s Day may be over-hyped, over-commercialized, and expensive, but it’s still a damn fine excuse to treat yourself to something out of the ordinary.

My boyfriend and I are celebrating at home this year.  After enjoying two especially decadent—and marvelous—dinners over the weekend, tonight is not the night for duck confit and crème brûlée. I also don’t want to spend the evening stationed alternately between the stove and the sink, so the menu I’m preparing isn’t very complicated. It’s also not very expensive.

But it is a little out of the ordinary, thanks to a few carefully chosen ingredients that will awaken the tongue & delight the belly.

Here’s the menu, with links to the recipes I’ve referenced for inspiration.  Pictures to follow tomorrow!
